59 years ago today, in the early morning of Jan. 12, 1952, fire broke out in the home of my Uncle and Aunt, Stu and Dorothy Knudsen, claiming the lives of their 3 sons and severely injuring their daughter. This is the first of 3 images of the aftermath. I believe that the house was located across the street from the Anglican church. Attachments:

Very sad... Did the daughter recover?
John, the Anglican church in Wanstead is long gone. Do you know where it was? Is that it in the upper right corner of photo 3?

Yes, she did recover, but was badly scarred. I was afraid that the church was gone. I don't know where it was, but I THINK that could be it in photo 3. I'm attaching another photo - of the neighbours who tried to help - that shows the church in the background. Attachments:

John, I think I saw the location on an old topographic map not too long ago... I'll have a look again when I have a chance and get back to you.
btw, kudos on all the church photos!

My aunt Jackie (née Knudsen) was the daughter who was injured in the house fire. For some reason, I had always thought the fire had happened in Petrolia. This thread and the photos now clear up any misconceptions I had. Thanks for posting the photos and info.
