A couple of years prior to his death, Mr. Lorne Henderson told me that he had known Ellwood Mott because he had been the sherrif of Lambton County. I have been trying ever since to find information about this, but to no avail. Does anyone have any information relating to Ellwood?

Ellwood Mott was the gaoler (jailer) at the old Court House and Gaol on Christina St. for many years - he was in charge in 1912 when the building was badly damaged by fire. I have seen a photo of him somewhere - I don't remember where - perhaps one of George Smith's picture histories of Sarnia. If I'm not mistaken, one of his daughters is still around, although I don't know her name. I'll see if I can find anything - if I do, I'll post it.
