Admin note: The original title of this thread was "Where was it?" and did not include the place name "Payne, Ontario", which was added once the place was successfully located. Does anyone remember where this was? Earn bonus points if you can figure out when this photo was taken... (click to enlarge)photo courtesy of the Lambton Room: Marie Brown Collection

I'll grant you the building looks a bit like that, but as the board's name hints, this is out in the county... thanks for the try, though...
This is one of my earliest posts on LLF and I've yet to have anyone guess this...

It looks like the old gas station in inwood? I picture it but am not sure if I have the town correct.

Ok, coming up on four years since posting this and no one had guessed yet...
So, here's another clue:
The house in the background, to the right, is still standing and is currently a reddish-pink colour and is clearly visible in Google Streetview (at least with the latest imagery). I'll also tell you (because it's not really obvious) that this gas station sat on a corner.
Hopefully, I'll get a few more guesses before I have to provide anymore clues. BTW, I have a family pass for the Lambton Heritage Museum for whoever figures out where it was and what the placename was...

Is it the gas station that use to be on the corner of Plank Rd. and Petrolia Line that you passed on your journey from Sarnia to Petrolia? Use to visit it with my parents way back when.

No, but you're getting warmer... it's in that part of the county (within 10 miles). btw, the corner you're talking about was called Sykeston. Cheers

One of the members on the LLF Facebook group recognized the house and was able to find the location using Google Maps. It is located on the southeast corner of Hwy. 40 and Moore Ln.Thanks to all who tried and welcome to Payne, Ontario. Here's another of Marie Brown's photos of the Payne service station, this time in summer... Attachments:
