The unique Fleming House was begun in the spring of 1874 by Michael Fleming, on the northwest corner of Vidal and Charlotte Sts. Michael was a Morse operator for the railway and came to Sarnia as a young men. He later became an entreprenuer and Sarnia Mayor. He died suddenly in 1892 while still a relatively young man. His house was sold to the Christian Scientists sometime around W.W.I. and housed their library for many years. In the 1970's the tired old house was bought by a couple of lawyers who renovated the building for offices. It is now home to the Kenneith Gallery. Many changes to the exterior of the building have happened over the years, most notibly the removal of the wrap-around verandah from the south face of the home. A few dormer windows were also removed from the third floor. Attachments:

Great photo!
Michael Fleming was born in February 1841 and married Annie Leys in June 1869. Her father Alexander Leys was one of the early merchants of Sarnia and Barron photography studio was at one point above his store. I thought that people that were interested in this photo might also appreciate a bit of genealogy to go with it.
