I took these pictures in 1987, of an old house that stood on the south side of Churchill Line, just west of Lambton 26 road. There must have been a large farm here at one time, but all of the other buildings were gone. Only the house remained. Nearby, next to the laneway were the remains of an old car, or truck. Note the wood spoked wheels. (Click to enlarge) A few years later the house was torn down, now the bush lot has reclaimed the site. bill57

I'm glad you posted that house, Bill... That was one of the first abandoned houses I ever explored. It's too bad they tore it down, because it was pretty cool.
Anyone know anything more about this one?

I lived across the road, east a bit. I remember helping her milk a cow she had and then she took me in for milk and pie. My family got a lot of Rhubarb from her. I moved away before she passed. Nice lady. I think Steve Vokes owns the farm now.

Some information on this house on the Facebook group " DO YOU REMEMBER... PLACES THAT NO LONGER EXIST IN SARNIA[/u]", provided by Joleen Taylor: William McCrie brought his family to North America from Ayrshire Scotland in 1852. He eventually took up land in Sarnia Township, Concession 2, lot 1, which is on Churchill Line today. He was a scholar and a teacher and it is lucky for him that his 8 sons and daughters knew how to farm. He is buried in Bunyan Cemetery on the corner of Churchill Line and Brigden Sideroad.
Last owned by May McCrie and torned down early 1990s?
